Cuc Phuong National Park, Vietnam

Cuc Phuong National Park is located 160 kilometres south west of Hanoi. It is the first of Vietnam's nine national parks to be established, and it contains over 200 square kilometres of rainforest. Tourists go there to study butterflies, visit caves, hike mountains and look at the 1,000-year-old tree. The best time to visit the park is during the dry season, from October to April, when the rainy season is over.

Nairobi National Park, Kenya

Nairobi National Park is Kenya's smallest park, but you may be surprised at the large variety of animals that live there. Visitors, especially children, can go there to learn how to recognise the different species of animals and plants. They also learn about the habits of animals and how one species is dependent upon another for survival. An interesting feature of this park is the Orphanage, where lots of orphaned or abandoned animals are taken care of.

Everglades National Park, USA

Everglades National Park is a sub-tropical wilderness in the southeastern United States. This national park is special because it has plants and animals from both tropical and temperate zones. Due to an increase in population and the use of nearby land for farming, there are toxic levels of chemicals in the water. This contamination has threatened the park and many of the animals in it.

Du khách đến đây để nghiên cứu các loài bướm, tham quan hang động, leo núi và chiêm ngưỡng loài cây có ngàn năm tuổi. Thời gian thích hợp nhất để thăm rừng là vào mùa khô từ tháng Mười đến tháng Tư, khi mùa mưa đã qua.

Công viên quốc gia Nairobi, Kenya

Công viên quốc gia Nairobi là công viên nhỏ nhất ở Kenya, nhưng có lẽ bạn sẽ ngạc nhiên với nhiều chủng loài động vật sống ở đây. Du khách, đặc biệt là trẻ em, có thể đến đây để học cách nhận biết các loài động vật và thực vật khác nhau. Họ cũng có thể nhận biết thói quen sinh hoạt của động vật và cách một loài phải phụ thuộc vào loài khác để sinh tồn như thế nào. Một điểm thú vị của công viên này là Trại mồ côi, nơi chăm sóc các con thú mất cha mẹ hay bị bỏ rơi.

Công viên quốc gia Everglades, Mỹ

Công viên quốc gia Everglades là khu bảo tồn hoang dã cận nhiệt đới ở về phía đông nam nước Mỹ. Công viên quốc gia này rất đặc biệt vì nó có cả động, thực vật, của vùng nhiệt đới và ôn đới. Do sự gia tăng dân số và việc sử dụng đất đai ở các khu lân cận để canh tác, nên nước đã bị nhiễm độc hoá chất. Sự ô nhiễm này đã đe dọa công viên và nhiều loài động vật sống trong đó.

=> In the Orphanage, orphaned and abandoned animals are taken care of.

=> Everglades National Park is endangered because of the toxic levels of chemicals in the water.

6. What do you think will happen to Everglades National park if more chemicals are released into the water? (Bạn nghĩ điều gì sẽ xảy đến với Công viên quốc gia Everglades nếu ngày càng nhiều hóa chất được thải vào trong nguồn nước?)

=> If people do not stop releasing toxic chemicals into the water, plants and animals there will disappear / be killed.

Discuss in groups. Which of the three national parks would you like to visit most? Why? (Thảo luận nhóm. Công viên nào trong ba Công viên quốc gia bạn muốn thăm nhất? Vì sao?)

I'd like to visit Cuc Phuong National Park most due to the following reasons. First it is in our country. Therefore it is easy and not so expensive for us to go there. Next it is said to be old for we can find a one-thousand-year-old tree and a large variety of rainforest. Moreover, tourists can study butterflies, visit caves and hike mountains. Finally, we can see the work being done to protect threatened and endangered species.
