WARM-UP/REVIEW (5 minutes)

Aim: To motivate students and help students to revise the pattern “This is my....”.

*Game:“Interview”

Use photos of family

- Ask students to prepare some photos of family.

- Explain how to do this activity.

- Ask students to work in pairs to introduce about the family members in the picture. E.g. one student asks “Who’s this?”, another students answers “This is my Mom.”.

- Give students two minutes.

- Ask some pairs to perform in the front of the class.

- Praise students if they have done well.

- Prepare some photos of family.

- Work in pairs to introduce about the family members in the picture.

PRESENTATION (10 minutes)

Aim: To help students identify more family words and improve students’ pronunciation skills.

*Lead-in: Use Flashcards 37–39 to introduce the new words.

- Use the flashcards to introduce the words aunt, uncle, and cousin. Use the word cousin for Tim. Hold up the cards one at a time and say the words for students to repeat.

- Put the flashcards around the room. Say the words for students to point to the correct flashcard and repeat.

- Praise students if they have done well.

*Listen and point. Repeat (Track 36)

- Point to the pictures. Say the words and let the students repeat.

- Play the recording. Ask students to point to the correct words.

- Play the recording again. Ask students to repeat each word after they hear it.

- Remark on students’ pronunciation.

PRACTICE (8 minutes)

Aim: To help students use family words in the context of a song.

*Listen and sing. (Track 37)

- Ask students to look at the pictures and to name as many family members, clothing items, and colors as they can.

- Play the recording for students to listen and point to the pictures when they hear aunt, uncle, and cousin. Then play it again as they follow the words in their books.

- Recite the words with the class, without the music or recording. Say each line and ask students to repeat.

- Play the recording again for students to sing along.

- Ask some students/groups to perform the song in the front of the class.

- Check students’ pronunciation. Praise students if they have done well.

- Tell students they are going to act the song.

- Decide with the class what the actions of the song should be.
