Have you ever felt that there aren't enough hours in the day? These days we have to do our jobs, look after our homes, save energy to help the environment, and do exercise to stay healthy! Like many of us, Alex Gadsden never had enough time. He rana business and a home and needed to lose weight. So he decided to do something about it. He invented the cycle washer. The 29-year-old now starts each day with a 45-minute cycle ride. He not only feels healthier but he saves on his energy bills and does the washing too.
He said, "It gives the user a good workout. I've only used it for two weeks but I've already noticed a difference." "I tend to get up at around six-thirty now and get straight on the cycle washer. I keep it in the garden, so it's nice to get out in the fresh air. Afterwards, I feel full of energy. Then I generally have breakfast and a shower and I really feel ready to start the day." The green washing Machine uses 25 litres water a wash, and takes enough clothes to fill a carrier bag. He normally cycles for 25 minutes to wash the clothes, and then for another 20 minutes to dry them. And it doesn't use any electricity, of course.

The effects of globalisation on cultural diversity As a result of globalisation, the world is becoming more and more connected. This has changed people's way of life, beliefs, art and customs, or their culture, in many respects. Although people's experiences around the world have become very similar, globalisation has also encouraged cultural diversity. Below are some examples. A. Variety of cuisines Fast food chains and international restaurants have become popular, offering a wide range of dishes and more food choices to local people. For example, here in Vietnam, we can enjoy Italian pizza or Japanese sushi, in addition to our traditional food. Moreover, some international dishes use local ingredients, which make them unique and more suitable to local tastes. On the other hand, Vietnamese specialties, such as pho and banh mi, are also gaining popularity worldwide. B. No borders for music Thanks to globalisation, people can quickly discover new music from all over the world. People nowadays enjoy listening to music from different countries and cultures, and in different languages. For example, American teens are captivated by K-pop music and dance. There are also many music festivals around the globe that bring artists and music fans together. In today's connected world, it is very common for musicians across the world to work on music projects and share ideas together. C. Blending fashion styles Globalisation has also impacted fashion by opening it up to a variety of styles and influences from around the world. Cross-cultural styles that blend both traditional and modern elements are on the rise. This presents opportunities for fashion designers to be creative and reflect the cultural richness of the world. The Coach Hotel Rating: ★★★☆☆ 164 reviews Patsy190 writes: 6 of us stayed here for the weekend. The first thing we noticed on entering our room was how small it was. Our rooms were clean, but the bed cover was stained. The furniture was really outdated, especially the bathroom, which had an old pink suite and linoleum on the floor. The ‘shower’ was a hose that you fit onto the taps. The sink was in the bedroom, right next to the television sockets which seems pretty unsafe to me. We had dinner there, and it was well-cooked, but we were still hungry afterwards because the servings were so tiny. The drinks prices were extortionate – £5 for a small glass of wine. My friend ordered a brandy, but the waitress brought him whiskey. When we complained, she just walked off! Not impressed. I would like to say it was cheap and cheerful but at £120 a night, it was neither – overpriced and depressing more like. MellowBunny writes: Just returned from a 3-day break here, and thought that the Coach Hotel was very good value for money. I had requested a quiet room and this was noted at reception. I got a great room – large, comfortable and clean, with a seating area overlooking the racecourse. The only disappointing thing was that there were no tea/coffee facilities in the room – not even a kettle. The furniture and decor was not particularly up-to-date, but that’s what you would expect from an old hotel. There was a wide selection of well-cooked food on offer. At breakfast I had poached eggs, and they were done to perfection. In the evening, I had a delicious three-course meal, and I wasn’t kept waiting for so long between courses, which is definitely a plus when you’re dining alone. I found the staff friendly and always willing to help. JadeUnicorn writes: Don’t be fooled by the pictures online. What you see is definitely NOT what you get! First, it’s not close to the city centre – it’s at least a 35-minute walk. Furniture was old and dated, although the bed was comfortable. [A] Tiny bathroom, with an absurdly loud extractor fan. No lock on the bathroom door and no toiletries, not even soap. [B] There were cobwebs all over the hotel. [C] The dining room is dark and uninviting, with no windows except one tiny one. [D] The food simply was the type that gives Britain a bad name. Instant coffee and cheap sausages. Service was poor, with staff clearing the table while we were still eating. |
Question 35: Which reviewer says the hotel’s decor was old-fashioned?
A. Patsy190

C. JadeUnicorn
D. All reviewers

A. Patsy190

A. The glass they received was dirty.
B. The drink they wanted was out of stock.

Many people have unique jobs that sound strange at first. Here are a few unusual jobs that might amaze you.
Firstly, there's the role of a pet food taster. Surprisingly, there are individuals who are employed to taste-test pet food. Different kinds of pet food follow specific nutritional standards, and they have to ensure the foods meet those standards before being sold, so the job requirements are a bit complicated. The pet food tasters must have a strong stomach and a good sense of taste because they may need to try various types of pet food, including wet, dry, meaty, and vegetarian varieties.
Another unusual job is a golf ball diver. While it might seem like a dream job for golf lovers, it's actually quite challenging. Golf ball divers dive into lakes and ponds on golf courses to collect lost balls. These balls are then cleaned, sorted, and sold back to golfers at a lower price than new ones. This job can be risky, as divers are exposed to different kinds of unpredictable weather conditions and sometimes encounter alligators, depending on the location.
Lastly, there's the profession of a professional wedding guest. This involves attending weddings as a guest without any personal connection to the couple. These professionals are hired to fill up guest lists and create a lively atmosphere. They might be asked to dance with guests or even give speeches.
Although these jobs might seem odd, they all serve important purposes. It goes to show that there's a place for everyone in the working world!

A Curriculum Vitae (CV) is a vital document in the job application process. A well-written CV not only demonstrates a candidate's job qualifications but also makes a lasting impression on potential employers. To write an outstanding CV, consider the following tips.
First and foremost, clarity and conciseness are key. Begin with a convincing personal statement that clearly outlines your career objectives and core competencies. Then, ensure that your CV is well-organized, with dearly defined sections for education, work experience, skills, and achievements. Use bullet points and concise language to make it easy for the target employers to scan for important details as quickly as possible because they might not spend much time reading your CV. Second, tailoring your CV to the specific job you're applying for is crucial. Highlight the skills and experiences that are only related to the job description, which demonstrates your suitability for the job, attention to detail, and commitment to the application process. Third, mention specific technical skills and soft skills, along with achievements related to your work experience wherever possible. Instead of general statements, use specific numbers and data to illustrate your impact in previous roles. For instance, mention the percentage increase in sales you achieved or the number of successful projects you managed, using different skills because detailed information helps you earn the employer's trust. Finally, provide the precise contacts of your previous managers or university lecturers in the references. The future employers could double-check what you present in your CV by contacting someone reliable in the field.
In conclusion, a well-crafted CV is a powerful tool that should be written based on clarity, customization, qualification, and references. If your tool is built successfully, you will have a better chance of getting the right job.
