I. OBJECTIVES

By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to:

1. Knowledge and skills

- correctly identify and pronounce the words eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, brother, sister and grandmother.

2. Competences

- Communication and collaboration: work in pairs or groups to complete the learning tasks.

- Self-control and independent learning: perform writing tasks.

- Study hard to review the vocabulary and sentence patterns they have learnt.

III. PROCEDURES

1. WARM-UP & REVIEW (5 minutes)

a. Objectives:

- To review the vocabulary eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, brother, sister and grandmother.

b. Content:

- Game: “Crossword puzzle”

c. Expected outcomes:

- Pupils can remember and say the vocabulary eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, brother, sister and grandmother.

Game: “Crossword puzzle”

- Tell pupils the goal of the puzzle and how to play it.

- Have pupils look at the spaces in the puzzle and give letters as well as picture cues to find appropriate letters to complete the words.

- Give pupils a time limit to do the puzzle in pairs. Go around the classroom and offer help if needed.

- Listen to the teacher’s explanation.

- Look at the spaces and find to complete the words.

- Do the puzzle in pairs.

2. ACTIVITY 1: PRACTICE (10 minutes)

a. Objectives:

- To correctly identify and pronounce the words fourteen, sister, seventeen and thirteen.

b. Content:

- Activity 1. Circle and match. Then say.

c. Expected outcomes:

- Pupils can correctly identify and pronounce the words fourteen, sister, seventeen and thirteen.

Activity 1. Look and circle. Then say.

Step 1:Draw pupils’ attention to Picture 1 (say “Look at Picture 1.”).

Step 2:Elicit the word indicated by the picture. When pupils answer correctly, confirm by saying “fourteen”. Have pupils circle the correct word (say “Circle the word fourteen.”).

Step 3:Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for Picture 2 “sister”, Picture 3 “seventeen” and Picture 4 “thirteen”.

Step 4:Point to each word pupils have circled and encourage them to say it both individually and in chorus (say “Say: fourteen/sister/seventeen/thirteen.”). Correct pupils’ pronunciation if necessary and praise them when their pronunciation is good.

- Pupils look at Picture 1.

- Pupils circle the word “fourteen”.

- Pupils follow the teacher’s instructions.

- Pupils look at each word and say it individually and in chorus.

3. ACTIVITY 2: PRACTICE(10 minutes)

a. Objectives:

- Activity 2. Let’s play.

c. Expected outcomes:

- Pupils can correctly identify and pronounce the words eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, brother, sister and grandmother.

Activity 2. Let’s play. “Rock, paper, scissors”

Step 1: Divide the class into two teams. Have each team stand in a line, facing the other team.

Step 2:Give each pupil a flashcard. Explain that the first pupils in each line will play a game of rock, paper, scissors! The pupil who wins then shows the other pupil their flashcard. The other pupil must identify and pronounce the word. If he/she is correct, he/she gets to stay in the line; if he/she is incorrect, he/she is “out” and must leave the line. The first team to get all the players in the other team “out” wins.

Step 3: Play the game.

- Pupils work in two teams and stand in a line.

- Pupils listen to the teacher’s explanation.

- Pupils play the game.

- A picture of a class playing the game.

- Flashcards showing pictures of target words (eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty, mother, father, brother, sister, grandmother, grandfather)

4. FUN CORNER AND WRAP-UP (10 minutes)

* Option 1/ Song: “The Number Rock”

- Prepare number flashcards of “one-twenty”.

- Give one card to each pupil.

- Play the song. Pupils listen to the song, sing along and raise the correct number card when they hear its sound.

- Play the song again for pupils to sing and do the actions.

- Praise pupils for their well-done effort.

* Option 2/ Game: “Who says fast”

- Tell the class they are going to look at the pictures and speak up the pictures’ names.

- Have pupils look at the pictures and say the names of the pictures.

- Who can say the correct names of the pictures fast will win.

- Continue the game until all the pictures are used.
