Double Compatives

I. Lý thuyết

1. So sánh của tính từ/ trạng từ

a. Tính từ/ Trạng từ ngắn

The + adj/ adv – er + S + V, the + adj/ adv – er + S + V

Ex: 

The older he got, the quieter he became.

(Càng về già, anh càng trầm lặng.)

The harder you study, the smarter you got

(Bạn càng học chăm chỉ, bạn càng thông minh hơn)

b. Tính từ/ Trạng từ dài

The + more + adj/ adv + S + V, the + more + adj/ adv + S + V

Ex:

The more beautiful she is, the attractive she is

(Cô ấy càng xinh đẹp, cô ấy càng hấp dẫn)

The more quickly you run, the more dangerous it is

(Chạy càng nhanh càng nguy hiểm)

2. So sánh của danh từ

The more/ less + noun + S + V, the more/ less + noun + S + V…

Ex:

The more books you read, the more knowledge you can get.

(Bạn càng đọc nhiều sách, bạn càng có thể nhận được nhiều kiến thức)

3. So sánh của động từ

The more/ less + S + V, the more/ less + S + V

Ex: 

The warmer the weather is, the better I like it.

(Thời tiết càng ấm, tôi càng thích.)

Lưu ý: 

3 cấu trúc so sánh của tính từ/ trạng từ, so sánh của danh từ và so sánh của động từ có thể kết hợp với nhau

Cấu trúc 1: 

The more/less + (danh từ/cụm danh từ) + S + V, the + tính từ ở thể so sánh + S+ V

Ex:

The more money and time he spends with her, the happier he becomes.

(Càng dành nhiều tiền và thời gian cho cô ấy, anh ấy càng hạnh phúc.)

The less Mary thinks about the problem, the morerelaxed she feels.

(Mary càng ít suy nghĩ về vấn đề, cô ấy càng cảm thấy thoải mái hơn.)

Cấu trúc 2: 

The + Tính từ ở thể so sánh + S + V, the more/less + (danh từ/cụm danh từ) + S+ V.

Ví dụ:

The richer the person is, the more privilege he enjoys.

(Người càng giàu càng được hưởng nhiều đặc quyền.)

The happier the child is, the more the mom can relax.

(Con càng vui thì mẹ càng thư thái.)

Tương tự ta cũng có thể ghép các mệnh đề so sánh của trạng từ và động từ

Ví dụ:

The more you pay, the better the service is.

(Bạn càng trả nhiều tiền, dịch vụ càng tốt.)

The better you work, the more money you deserve.

(Bạn càng làm việc tốt, bạn càng xứng đáng nhận được nhiều tiền hơn.)
