This is due to the fact that human resource is a crucial factor behind the success of every organization, and it takes the intensified effort of both leaders as well as team members to reach optimal productivity. Moreover, the person in command should be humble and open to new ideas as he conducts business. To be more specific, regardless of working fields, there are constantly new global movements that require immediate adaptation from enterprises and organizations, especially in the ongoing high-tech era.

Decisions made by leaders could have a significant impact on our lives, so it is vital for leaders to be smart enough to understand the consequences of their actions. Moreover, the person in command should keep the lines of communication open between him and his team. It is imperative as it encourages staff to come up with and discuss their problems at the workplace openly and frankly so that their head can guide them to find the right solution.
An intelligent leader can make wise decisions by observing the behaviour of their peers. If he/she is smart, they will learn from the mistakes of their predecessors and colleagues and make their administration more effective. With their dedication, they will help make a positive difference in the lives of their followers. These qualities, on the whole, make them think that such leaders are trustworthy and mature enough to lead them.
However, apart from intelligence alone, a few other components are equally crucial for reliable and successful leadership: observation, humility, and zeal to do good for all and treat everyone equally to work are also necessary skills. But, if the leader is not sensible enough to know how to use these qualities in the right place at the right time, they all become useless.

Another factor important to become a leader is character quotient. Character quotient represents the strength of your character. While your brain may be valuable to someone else (an employer), your beliefs only hold value to you. A person with a high character quotient would be unlikely to compromise their beliefs based on temptations such as money or a promotion. This integrity makes them a great asset to any organization, thereby making them extremely effective leaders that people can look up to.
Therefore, I disagree that intelligence is the only component necessary to become an effective leader. The elements to leadership include a blend of a strong mind (high IQ); a strong ability to influence people on an emotional level (high EQ), and a strong positive character (high CQ).

Individuals leading groups must have a combination of high IQ level and great analytical skills, which enables them to easily gauge the nature of problems and also provide solutions. Moreover, intelligence also makes the leaders visionaries, pragmatic, innovative and prone to changes. It has been experienced that intelligent people when leading from the front always seek excellence since for them, second best cannot guarantee success.
Similarly, such people are usually smarter in approach: they possess emotional resilience to face adversaries and supporters alike. They are tolerant to ambiguity and difference of opinions; pave way by balancing diverse and conflicting viewpoints; and adapt appropriate strategies to prevail upon, convince, and win over by making quick and necessary changes in plans. Ability of individuals to take criticism in their strides and carry on with their work inspires supporters and critics alike. This sets them intelligently apart from the rest of the crowd and makes them natural leaders. Apart from that, CQ or character quotient, another trait of high intellect, is another aspect that is considered to be a mandatory for commanders. Character integrity makes these people ideals for coworkers, followers and citizens of a country.
Hence, I personally believe that high level of intellect is surely a critical part of leadership, and it can make a difference between success and failure. If one lacks such a trait, they will struggle to find followers.
