Some people may think that the amount of freedom given to children is more extensive than previous generations enjoyed. However, it does not mean it is excessive or in any way detrimental. It is common for older generations to compare their childhood with the experience of children growing up today.
While it is natural that some people may consider that children these days enjoy a more liberal and free childhood than children in the past, it occurs in the context of a world which has indeed changed much in the last few decades. The explosion of technology, the concept of globalization, and disruptive social changes have resulted in new behaviors and attitudes towards many things. It is not only children but also today's adults that live in ways unheard of by the previous generation.
On the other hand, it seems that each generation of children benefits from more freedom and growing up quicker than their parents did. The result is more liberal, mature, and adventurous adults, who affect society in the long run. One can argue that society has progressed more rapidly because of this shedding of many traditional ways of doing things and becoming a freer and more open society.
I believe that children do not have too much freedom. In fact, the so-called freedom they now enjoy is probably directly related to the greater freedom which adults also enjoy. It is not a case of only children benefiting from this change but also adults and society in general.

Some people believe that nowadays youngsters have too much licence to behave how they like. I totally agree with this view, because I think that more discipline should be imposed for the benetìt and protection of children at school and in the home.
There are dangers in the current tendency in many schools to allow children to have too much freedom. While some traditional ideas of schooling have been dismissed, such as harsh corporal punishment, not all change is for the better. When the authority of the teacher is undermined, then no learning takes place in the classroom. Lessonsaresometimes disrupted by students shouting, running around or playing with their mobile phones. Unpunished, pupils fall behind with their studies and fail to make the grade when they sit exams. Therefore, to maintain educational standards, the schoolchildren of today should be given less freedom to behave as they like.
In the home, parental involvement is often too lax in the upbringing of children. Without this supervision, children nowadays easily fall into juvenile crime and anti-social behaviour or are preyed on by evil people on social networking sites. All these are major issues, for example, in UK society. In the past, many parents may have been overprotective, but today’s children are too often allowed to spend money and time unsupervised. Although I agree that youngsters should be allowed some freedom of choice during their formative years, strict rules are lacking at home. Too few parents impose responsible patterns of behaviour such as regular bedtimes, times for homework and the need for children to inform parents of where they and what they are doing.
In conclusion, children today have been given too much freedom to behave as they like at school and at home.

With the digitalisation of nearly everything in the current era, the new generation is technology-driven and sees nothing more than the screens of their laptops or mobiles. Often, parents use these devices to calm their crying babies or distract their young children from being notorious and naughty. Due to the massive use of social media these days, often children along with their parents are seen making fun videos or dancing to the latest jams. All of these advancements were absent in earlier times. Freedom of expression is being used very extensively by children nowadays. The era of digitalisation has definitely given the children the chance to be active in the digital world. According to recent studies, a greater number of children tend to stay indoors and play games than go out and interact socially. Earlier times did not allow children to use digital media or devices to interact socially. They would have to write letters or would have to personally meet people for social interactions. In this pandemic situation, children got greater freedom to use devices. Now they can freely use the devices even for educational purposes. The classes and lectures are held online. With the existence of various sites, children are now able to interact with unknown people all around the world. This freedom has its own drawbacks. Since children these days are extremely tech-savvy, it has become quite difficult to monitor what sites they browse and what social media platforms they are using. The freedom of expression through digital platforms have given children the freedom and opportunity to post and share the content that they are interested in. children are free to upload videos and posts about their hobbies or art and make it reach a greater audience. Parents these days allow their children to showcase their talents even in reality television shows like dancing, singing and all. The freedom given to children these days to pursue their talents and interests and stay active on social media is far more than what parents used to provide for their children in the past.

The world has outgrown the venomous criteria of caste segregation and stereotyping. The age-old concept of how a girl must be restricted to household chores and wear typical colours like pink and how a man must only work and not do girlish things like cooking and cleaning has evolved to a new and advanced level. Children these days are provided with the freedom to do and wear whatever they feel like. There have been gigantic freedoms given to children in terms of making friends and wearing what they feel like or taking up any profession of their choice. Unlike the past times wherein families and relatives would restrict the children from being friends or even interact with other children and people of different castes, in the modern world parents have changed and have provided their children with the freedom to be in contact with anybody that they wish regardless of the caste or colour of the person. Now a Muslim boy coming to a Hindu family’s house for lunch is not a bizarre sight. Children are also given the freedom to wear any colour and patterned clothes that they want. The colours like pink and red are not restricted to just girls. A lot of fashion influencers wear bold manly colours and styles of clothing like suits and blazers. Young boys wear shorts and pink-coloured shirts normally. The freedom of wearing the clothes of their choice has had various positive impacts as the children break stereotypical norms and even start their own fashion influencing businesses, irrespective of gender. The mentality of children to accept the differences in the caste and turn a blind eye to them while making friends has definitely made the world a better place to live. The freedom to independently stay over at their friends’ places irrespective of caste and gender these days is quite prevalent. Girls are given the freedom to wear the clothes that they desire openly without hesitation, like, various girls these days wear blazers and pants rather than shirts and skirts to work. Thus, the idea that people think children these days are given more freedom in terms of making friends or the clothes they wish to wear is true.

I strongly believe that children these days have more freedom than they had in the past. The globe of academics has evolved into the modern era. The transition from studying into Gurukuls to smart classes is a very long journey. Unlike the early days when children were forced to follow the common and basic stream of subjects, the modern-day education plan allows students to race against the force and achieve more of what they could if they followed the same old era streams. Talking about freedom in terms of choice, parents these days allow their children to opt for a field in which their children are more interested and passionate. In the era of smart work, students are majorly forced to work hard. Children these days grow faster than their guardians in respect of technology, this makes them more aware of the modern-day techniques and the necessity to follow the global culture, which is a hub of new opportunities. The Internet is the most elementary part of one’s life, it serves as an erupted volcano of opportunities in terms of academics and career options and sometimes acts as a glacier with most of its part hidden below the surface. Rather than going for various mainstream courses such as engineering, medical courses, law etcetera, students now can go for various skill development courses such as baking, blogging, social media marketing, trading, photography, e-commerce businesses, computer graphic animations and much more. Young children have the freedom to explore vocational and professional courses even in schools and colleges. With the evolution of modern-day education, students and youngsters have also evaded old stereotypes such as dowry and indulgence of women in the work fields. Thus, children are given more freedom in their educational aspirations these days than in the past.

In today's society, there is an ongoing debate surrounding the amount of freedom children are given. Some argue that children nowadays have too much freedom, while others believe that this independence encourages creativity and fosters personal growth. Personally, I agree with the latter view, as I believe that giving children freedom within certain boundaries is crucial for their development, socialization, and overall well-being.
Firstly, it is important to acknowledge that freedom is essential for children's development. Allowing them to explore the world around them, make decisions, and face the consequences of their choices sets the stage for them to become responsible and independent individuals. By granting children the necessary freedom, they learn to problem-solve and develop critical-thinking skills, which are vital for their future lives. Restricting children too much can lead to a lack of independence and hinder the development of valuable life skills.
Moreover, giving children freedom enables them to engage in creative activities, fostering their imagination and innovation. When children are allowed to explore different hobbies and interests, they discover their passions and talents. Without the freedom to explore their own interests, children may feel stifled and struggle to develop a sense of identity or find fulfillment in their lives. For instance, renowned artists, musicians, and inventors often credit their early freedom to explore and experiment as a key factor in their success.
Additionally, freedom allows children to socialize and build relationships. By allowing them to interact with their peers and make their own choices, children develop important social skills. They learn how to navigate different social situations, resolve conflicts, and develop empathy towards others. These skills are crucial for their future success in personal and professional relationships. Overprotecting children and shielding them from all potential risks may hinder their ability to function in society, leading to difficulties in their personal and professional lives later on.
However, it is essential to note that freedom for children should be balanced with parental guidance and supervision. Providing freedom does not mean abandoning all responsibilities or allowing children to engage in harmful activities. Parents should set certain boundaries and provide guidance to ensure that children's freedom remains within safe and healthy limits. Striking this balance ensures that children can explore and develop in a supportive environment, while still being protected from potential harm.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that children nowadays benefit from having an appropriate amount of freedom. Granting children independence within certain boundaries allows them to develop crucial life skills, encourages their creativity and innovation, and aids in their socialization. While a balance with parental guidance is necessary, the overall advantages of giving children freedom significantly outweigh any potential disadvantages. Consequently, promoting the freedom of children should be embraced and encouraged in society.

It is true that children now have more freedom than their previous generations to some extent. However, I am of the opinion that their current levels of what is called freedom are far from being excessive.
On the one hand, it is apparent that parents have been giving their children certain levels of autonomy in choosing friends and clothes. With respect to the former, children now can choose friends with whom they want to play regardless of their different backgrounds. This was uncommon in the past when parents of wealthy families only permitted their children to play with those coming from the same privileged class. In addition to this, today's teenagers are also entitled to decide on what sort of clothes they wear. It is a common sight now that a girl dresses in menswear, which was never the case for their parents' generations.
On the other hand, certain aspects such as children's academic pursuits or daily activities are still solely decided by their parents. Take Vietnam as a typical example. Many young Vietnamese students are forced to take arts, science, or sports classes, regardless of how depressed or discouraged they may feel. Perhaps parents do this since they expect their children to outstand rather than being left behind by their peers in the current context of harsh competitiveness even in primary school years. Moreover, as the world is now filled with ever-increasing crimes, some parents tend to overprotect and closely watch over their children by not allowing them to play outdoors without their observation. Strict curfew and restrictions are in place as a means to guard youngsters from possible harm but curtail their freedom to a great extent.
In conclusion, the fact that children nowadays can make their own choices in some aspects is clearly seen. However, saying that children are enjoying too much freedom is seemingly an exaggeration as many of them are even under constant parental supervision in terms of their education and participation in daily activities in this more demanding yet less safe world.
