Another solution that I think can prove more beneficial would be to have stringent fines and punishments for traffic violations and especially for repeat offenses. In India particularly, many traffic accidents are caused by breaking the traffic rules, like jumping red lights or driving on the wrong side of the road to save time. Thus, a healthy culture of people following rules and regulations needs to be developed and this can be done by having harsher punishments like high fines, suspension of driving license and so on.

In conclusion, I think there are better alternatives to raising the legal age for driving as this could lead to more problems.

Again, teenagers are reckless drivers and driving at a high speed and doing competition each other on the highway is quite common among them.

However, I would like to argue that there are other better approaches to reduce road accidents. We can substantially reduce traffic accidents by the means of stiff punishment for traffic offenders. This would be effective in two ways. First of all, once a strict law is imposed and, it prevents people’s attempt to make an offense a second time. Secondly, when a person is punished severely is considered as a mirror at which other people may look and they try to avoid the same incidents.

Secondly, traffic police should fine commuters heavily or forfeit their driving license if they break the law. As a result, drivers are likely to obey the law and car accidents decrease. First and foremost, in this modern era youngsters are found of keeping new bikes or luxurious cars. For instance, minors who drive recklessly on the road and even without having a license drive and in their ignorance regarding rules of driving on the road, damage public property as well as harm the pedestrian. In addition, enhancing age for driving or riding motorbikes is not the best decision. Instead, increasing the training period, which is inadequate to learn driving, should be enhanced. However, this approach could be pointless since the main cause does not stem from age but from the awareness and experience that new drivers gain from formal training and practices.

This can make them more well-prepared and responsive to unexpected incidents on roads. Second, as poor traffic infrastructure is also a key root of road danger, it should be improved in many aspects including traffic lights, the quality of road surface or lane fences. Take Vietnam as an example, many accidents have usually occurred on many bump and narrow streets.

In conclusion, I believe that equipping new drivers with necessary skills and experience and improvement of traffic infrastructure are more able to prove its effects on ensuring road safety rather than raising the minimum driving age.
