PART 4. READING AND WRITING
Read the passage and do as directed.
First published in 1959, The Magic of Thinking Big written by Dr. David Schwartz is a must-read for those who want to step of out their comfort zone. The book explains everything that leads to success and how to keep failure away. Among the deciding factors in thinking big is giving up the habit of making excuses. People may come up with excuses which are related to health, intellect, age and luck so that they feel better about being careless or irresponsible. When failure occurs, self-regulated people tend not to put the blame on their misfortune. Instead, they genuinely express their gratitude towards their current situation, try to figure out what goes wrong and move forward step by step. According to Schwartz, big thinkers have a tendency to speak with a big-picture mindset. They focus on what is important and feel less worried about trivial things. They talk about their plans with optimism, and do the same with their counterparts. The practice of being a good listener is another element resulting in success. Big thinkers should pay attention to what people are saying, even feedback. They need to be open to novel ideas. Their initial plans will be polished as a result.

Read the following passage and choose the correct answer (A, B, C, or D).
For centuries, humans have wondered if life exists on other planets. With advancements in technology, this question is closer to being answered than ever before. Scientists have discovered thousands of planets outside our solar system, some of which have conditions that could support life. These planets are called "exoplanets," and they orbit stars just like Earth orbits the Sun.
One of the most important factors for life is water. Many scientists believe that if water exists on another planet, life could exist there too. In recent years, telescopes have found signs of water on a few planets, raising hopes that we are not alone in the universe.
Another exciting idea is the possibility of life on moons in our own solar system. For example, Europa, one of Jupiter's moons, has a thick layer of ice on its surface. Underneath that ice, there may be oceans of liquid water, which could provide the perfect environment for life to exist.
Even though we have not found life yet, the search continues. Missions are being planned to explore these distant worlds in more detail. In the future, we may discover that life exists in places we never imagined.

B. Scientists have found living creatures on Europa.

Question 17. According to the passage, why is water important for finding life on other planets?
A. Water can destroy harmful bacteria on planets.
B. Water makes the planet warmer.
C. Water attracts living creatures from Earth.
D. Water is vital for life, so if it exists, life could exist there too.
