I. OBJECTIVES
By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to:
1. Knowledge and skills
- listen, recognise the words and tick the correct boxes.
- listen and identify the sounds by circling the letters
- identify and say the letters, sounds and words they have learnt with correct pronunciation.
- imitate the upper-case letters O and M and the lower-case letters o and m, using body positions.
- pronounce the sound /ɒ/, /m/, /ʌ/, /l/ of the letters O/o, M/m, U/u, L/l in isolation and in words clocks, locks, mops, pots, mango, monkey, mother, mouse, bus, running, sun, truck,Lucy, lake, leaf, lemons correctly.
- read the learnt words and structures.

1. WARM-UP & REVIEW (5 mins)
a. Objectives:
- To create a friendly and lively atmosphere in the classroom.
- To revise the previous lesson.
b. Content:
- Game: Hot seat
c. Expected outcomes:
- Pupils review words from Unit 9 to Unit 12.

2. ACTIVITY 1: PRACTICE (10 mins)
a. Objectives:
- Pupils have an opportunity to revise some learnt phrases: two locks, three clocks, four pots, five monkeys.
b. Content:
- Activity 1. Listen and tick.
c. Expected outcomes:
- Pupils can identify the words and read them with correct pronunciation.

Step 1: Have pupils look at the pictures of question 1, and ask: What can you see? Can you see a goat and a gate? Draw pupils’ attention to the boxes next to the letters a and letter b. Step 2: Invite some pupils to point to the pictures and say the words aloud. Step 3: Play the recording, ask pupils to listen and tick the correct box. Give further support to those pupils who find it difficult to do the task. Step 4: Follow the same procedure with the pictures of questions 2 and 3. Set a time limit for pupils to swap and check the answers. Step 5: Invite some pupils to the front of the class to point to the pictures and say what they have circled. |

3. ACTIVITY 2: PRACTICE (7 mins)
a. Objectives:
- Pupils remember the words they have learnt in the previous units
b. Content:
- Activity 2. Listen and circle.
c. Expected outcomes:
- Pupils can identify things and animals and say the words correctly.

Step 1: Have pupils look at the pairs of letters and practice saying the letter names and letter sounds in pairs. Invite some pupils to say the letters and the sounds in front of the class. Step 2: Play the recording, ask pupils to listen and circle the letters of the sounds. Have pupils listen at least twice. Step 3: Ask pupils to swap and check the answers. Play the recording again for them to check, if necessary. Invite some pupils to say the sounds they have circled. Confirm the correct answers. Step 4: Put all the pictures away and have Pupils say out the number of things /animals in the pictures. Move around and correct their pronunciation, if necessary. |

- Pupils can identify things and animals and say the words correctly.

Step 1: Have pupils look at Picture 1 and ask: What can you see? Can you see a lake? Follow the same procedure with the other three pictures. Invite some pupils to point to the pictures and say the words in front of the class (e.g., 1. a lake, 2. the sun, …). Step 2: Play the recording, ask pupils to listen and put a tick or cross. Have pupils listen at least twice. Step 3: Ask pupils to swap and check the answers. Play the recording again for them to check, if necessary. Step 4: Invite some pupils to say the sounds they have heard. Confirm the correct answers. |
