1. Điểm giống nhau của “for” và “since”

Chúng ta dùng cả “for” và “since” để diễn tả sự việc nào đó đã xảy ra được bao lâu.

2. Sự khác nhau về cách dùng của “for” và “since”

For = khoảng, trong, qua	Since = từ khi, kể từ khi
- For được dùng để chỉ một khoảng thời gian mà sự việc hoặc hành động diễn ra, kéo dài trong suốt khoảng thời gian đó - Trả lời cho câu hỏi How long?	Since dùng chỉ mốc thời gian mà sự việc hay hành động bắt đầu xảy ra, chỉ mốc thời gian - Trả lời cho câu hỏi When?
Eg: for 2 years (2 năm qua)	Eg: since 1999 (kể từ năm 1999)

3. Sự khác nhau về cấu trúc của “for” và “since”

For + khoảng thời gian	Since + mốc thời gian
Eg: For two hours (2 tiếng rồi) For a year (1 năm rồi) For ages (nhiều năm rồi) For a long time (đã một thời gian dài) For 30 minutes (đã được 30 phút) For 6 months (6 tháng rồi)	Eg: Since November (từ tháng Mười Một) Since Christmas (từ Giáng Sinh) Since I got up (từ lúc tôi dậy) Since Monday (từ thứ Hai) Since 2017 (từ năm 2017) Since 8 o’clock (từ 8h)
